Happy Friday and happy Wicked day!!!!!! I don’t need to tell you that it’s a big day for theater kids (and for those of us who were not theater kids but who have definite theater kid energy, bless our hearts), and I look forward to seeing the film this weekend with one friend who is a fellow Wicked lover and with one friend who has NEVER SEEN THE PLAY AND IS EXPERIENCING WICKED FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!! I’m so excited!!!!
In other news:
Netflix: The powers that be have already been saying that it’s going to be an especially competitive year at the Oscars — but I feel deeply confident that one film in particular will not be in the running. That film is Hot Frosty — and though it won’t be winning any awards in the near future, I do highly recommend that you watch it. The insane amount of plot holes is honestly canceled out by the fact that one of its stars is none other than the sister-in-law from Four Christmases (scene stealer extraordinaire). I’d watch her read a phone book.
Note: The best Christmas movies of all time are as follows (in no particular order): Four Christmases, Bad Moms Christmas, White Christmas, The Santa Clause, The Santa Clause 2, The Santa Clause 3, Single All the Way, Christmas with the Kranks, The Holiday, Elf, Happiest Season, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Let It Snow. As Mariah would say: “It’s tiiiiiiime!”
Books: I finished listening to Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten and needed to immediately dive into another food-centric celebrity memoir. I’m now listening to What I Ate in One Year (and Other Thoughts) by Stanley Tucci. Both books are SO soothing and lovely to listen to while commuting or doing little tasks, and both are making me realllllly wish I could cook.
In physical form, I’m reading Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty. It’s about a bunch of strangers on a plane who all have their deaths predicted by a fellow passenger, and then her predictions start to come true. It is a true book that feels like a book!
Sleep: My coworker/friend Erin told me about this 12-hour sleep sound, and I’ve been listening to it religiously ever since. I’m getting my best sleep in years, but my Spotify Wrapped is going to be an absolute mess.
TV: A loyal reader* asked me to include a specific reader survey this week — so without further ado, please answer the below question in honor of this upcoming week’s Dancing with the Stars finale. I’ll share my own response/guess in the next newsletter.

Finally, if you want to be inspired/shocked/enthralled, I encourage you to join me in hyperfixating on The Great World Race, which was an event this week in which several runners ran seven marathons in seven days and on SEVEN DIFFERENT CONTINENTS. One of my all-time favorite Peloton instructors Becs Gentry participated, and I feel simultaneously amazed, motivated, and confused by what some people are capable of.
Have a wicked weekend! Ily!!!
XO,
Gail
